Music Has a Long Memory

Music has always had a long memory.

Records, sounds, scenes and ideas from decades ago still shape what we make today. There is value in knowing where something came from. The drum machine someone pushed too far. The record that changed a whole scene. The strange little sound that somehow survived.

But remembering the past does not mean living in it.

Music only stays alive when people take what came before and do something new with it. Respect the roots, but leave room for your own mistakes, your own technology, your own time.

The past gives us a language. The present gives us something to say.

And the future is what happens when we stop trying to recreate yesterday.
