Endtroducing

Still the door I send people through, the ones who ask, without saying it, how you make a life out of other people’s records without being a tourist in them.

If you make music out of vinyl, you run into Endtroducing, not as homework but as a room where someone is listening harder than most people talk. Shadow in the shop, crate after crate. The photograph on the cover does the whole thesis: this is labor, and it is also love. Dig until the break surprises you. Leave space. Notice what you start hunting for afterward: the dusty thing, the off thing, the thing that still has a body.

I put it on when my own loops start sounding like they were designed instead of found. It doesn’t scold. It just reminds you what patience sounds like when it has a pulse.
