Boiler Room Got Sold
DICE sold the webcam to Superstruct, and the rooms are asking who owns the rectangle.
DICE sold Boiler Room today to Superstruct Entertainment, the European live giant KKR bought last summer for a reported $1.4 billion, for an undisclosed sum. Blaise Bellville’s webcam, the one that made a London basement feel like a passport, now reports to a festival conglomerate. DICE keeps the tickets and Superstruct keeps the brand, which leaves the rooms to keep the night if they still want it.
A billion views across a hundred and twenty markets, and that grainy rectangle turned a DJ into a rumour you forwarded at 1am. You could be in Peckham and also on a wet pavement in Cumberland, watching the same drop, performing the same yes. Platforms get sold, and that’s not gossip. What’s gossip is that the underground spent fifteen years letting a camera stand in for a door.
Some lineups will keep saying yes and some already started saying no. Put on the last stream you actually remember, not the one you screenshotted, and ask whether you were in the room or just watching someone else be in it. The night never lived in the rectangle. The rectangle just got a new letterhead.
