Put this on when your loops feel too clean, when everything lands on the grid like it was afraid to be late to its own party.

Dilla finished a lot of Donuts while he was sick: MPC, stack of records, stubborn about feel. What’s useful isn’t the tragedy, though the tragedy is real and you shouldn’t sand it off. It’s the ear. Swung hats, late snare, “off” made intentional, like a jacket worn on one shoulder on purpose. The smile on the sleeve is the whole argument: this still wants to love you.
